Ingredients

  • Shrimp: 16 pieces large (approximately 0.5 lb or 225 grams)
  • Butter: 4 tablespoons approximately 60 grams
  • Lemons: 2 zest and juice (about 50 ml of juice)
  • Fresh parsley: 3 tablespoons chopped (45 ml when chopped)
  • Fresh basil: 2 tablespoons chopped (30 ml when chopped)
  • Fresh thyme: 1 tablespoon 15 ml
  • Garlic: 2 cloves minced
  • Salt: to taste start with 1/2 teaspoon or 2.5 ml
  • Black pepper: to taste start with 1/4 teaspoon or 1.25 ml
  • Olive oil: for brushing optional
  • Time: 20 minutes 10 minutes preparation + 10 minutes grilling

Instructions

  • Start by preparing your shrimp. Ensure they are cleaned, deveined, and tails intact. Pat them dry.
  • In a bowl, combine the melted butter, lemon zest, lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped parsley, basil, and thyme. Stir until everything is well incorporated.
  • Season the butter mixture with salt and pepper according to your preference. This is your Lemon Herb Butter.
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. While waiting, lightly brush your shrimp with a bit of olive oil. This helps them get that nice grill mark.
  • Once heated, place the shrimp on the grill. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink.
  • During the last minute of grilling, generously brush some of the Grilled Shrimp with Lemon Herb Butter mixture onto the shrimp.
  • Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the grill and place them on a serving plate.
  • Drizzle the remaining Grilled Shrimp with Lemon Herb Butter over the top, ensuring each shrimp gets its share of buttery goodness.

Notes

Opt for fresh shrimp rather than frozen for the best flavor.
Always zest your lemon before juicing. It’s much easier!
Avoid overcooking shrimp. They cook quickly, so keep an eye on them.
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
Feel free to adjust the herbs based on what you have on hand. Rosemary or dill can be excellent additions!
