Ingredients

  • 2 salmon steaks
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger finely grated (15 ml in metric)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce 45 ml
  • 2 tablespoons honey 30 ml
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil 15 ml
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice 15 ml
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper 5 ml
  • Fresh parsley finely chopped for garnish
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Start by mixing the ginger, garlic, soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, and black pepper in a bowl. This concoction is your marinade for the Salmon Steaks with Ginger.
  • Place the salmon steaks in a dish and pour the marinade over them. Ensure each steak is well-coated.
  • Let the salmon marinate for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Once hot, place the marinated salmon steaks in the skillet.
  • Cook for 7-10 minutes on each side or until the salmon is cooked through and has a slight char on the outside.
  • Once cooked, remove from heat and garnish with the chopped parsley and sliced green onions.

Notes

Don’t over-marinate! 10 minutes is just right for the flavors to penetrate without the fish getting soggy.
If you’re watching your sodium intake, opt for a low-sodium soy sauce.
Always opt for fresh ginger over the powdered version for a more vibrant flavor in your Salmon Steaks with Ginger.
Use a non-stick skillet to avoid the salmon from sticking and breaking apart during cooking.
Serve the Salmon Steaks with Ginger hot right off the skillet.
Complement with a side of steamed jasmine rice or quinoa to make it a wholesome meal.
Toss in a light salad with a vinaigrette dressing on the side. The tanginess will contrast beautifully with the richness of the salmon.
For an extra flavor punch, consider drizzling a bit more fresh lemon juice right before serving.
