Ingredients

  • Salmon fillets: 2 pieces approximately 6 oz each [170 grams]
  • Salt: ½ tsp 2.5 grams
  • Black pepper: ¼ tsp 1 gram
  • Olive oil: 1 tbsp 15 ml
  • Fresh cilantro leaves finely chopped: 1 cup (240 ml)
  • Lime zested and juiced: 1 large
  • Garlic cloves minced: 2
  • Greek yogurt or any thick yogurt: ¼ cup (60 ml)
  • Water: 2-3 tbsp 30-45 ml

Instructions

  • Start by seasoning your salmon fillets.
  • Evenly sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper.
  • In a non-stick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is shimmering, place the salmon fillets skin-side down.
  • Sear for 6-7 minutes on each side, ensuring a golden crust.
  • As the salmon cooks, whisk together cilantro, lime zest, lime juice, garlic, and Greek yogurt.
  • If the sauce is too thick, you can add water one tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  • Once the salmon is cooked to perfection, remove from heat.
  • Generously drizzle the Seared Salmon with Cilantro Lime Sauce before serving.

Notes

  • Opt for wild-caught salmon when possible; it often has a richer taste.
  • Always zest the lime before juicing it; it’s much easier.
  • To ensure even cooking, bring the salmon to room temperature before searing.
