Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped chipotle peppers, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Divide the mixture into two even portions and shape them into patties.
Lightly brush each patty with olive oil on both sides.
Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5 minutes on each side for a medium-rare Smokey Grilled Cheddar Chipotle Burger or adjust to your preference.
Two minutes before the patties are done, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. This allows the cheese to melt beautifully over the burger.
Remove the patties from the grill once cooked and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
While the patties are resting, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill.
To assemble your Smokey Grilled Cheddar Chipotle Burger, start with a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the beef patty with melted cheddar.
Layer on a tomato slice and onion rounds.
Cap it all off with the top bun, and you’ve just made yourself the ultimate Smokey Grilled Cheddar Chipotle Burger.
