Ingredients

  • Ground beef: 1 lb 454g
  • Cheddar cheese sliced: 4 slices (approx. 1 oz or 28g each)
  • Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce finely chopped: 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
  • Burger buns: 2
  • Lettuce leaves: 4
  • Ripe tomatoes sliced: 4 slices
  • Red onion thinly sliced: 4 rounds
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons 30 ml
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon 5 ml
  • Black pepper: ½ teaspoon 2.5 ml

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped chipotle peppers, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  • Divide the mixture into two even portions and shape them into patties.
  • Lightly brush each patty with olive oil on both sides.
  • Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5 minutes on each side for a medium-rare Smokey Grilled Cheddar Chipotle Burger or adjust to your preference.
  • Two minutes before the patties are done, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. This allows the cheese to melt beautifully over the burger.
  • Remove the patties from the grill once cooked and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  • While the patties are resting, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill.
  • To assemble your Smokey Grilled Cheddar Chipotle Burger, start with a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the beef patty with melted cheddar.
  • Layer on a tomato slice and onion rounds.
  • Cap it all off with the top bun, and you’ve just made yourself the ultimate Smokey Grilled Cheddar Chipotle Burger.

Notes
