Ingredients

  • Prepare to embark on your flavor-packed adventure by gathering these essential ingredients:
  • Tofu: 14 oz 400g
  • Soy Sauce: 3 tbsp 45ml
  • Sesame Oil: 1 tbsp 15ml
  • Chili Garlic Sauce: 2 tsp 10g
  • Peanut Butter: 3 tbsp 45g
  • Lime Juice: 2 tbsp 30ml
  • Brown Sugar: 1 tbsp 12g
  • Ginger: 1 tsp 5g, minced
  • Garlic: 3 cloves minced
  • Water: 3 tbsp 45ml
  • Vegetable Oil: For grilling
  • Salt: To taste
  • Cilantro: For garnish
  • PREPARATION TIME
  • Preparation: 15 minutes
  • Marination: 30 minutes
  • Grilling: 10 minutes
  • Total: 55 minutes

Instructions

  • Press and Marinate the Tofu:
  • Start by pressing the tofu: place it between two paper towels and place a heavy object (like a skillet) on top. Leave it for 15 minutes to drain excess water.
  • In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Cut the pressed tofu into cubes and gently coat them with the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the Peanut Sauce:
  • In a separate bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of peanut butter, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 2 teaspoons of chili garlic sauce, 2 tablespoons of lime juice, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, minced ginger, minced garlic, and 3 tablespoons of water. Mix until smooth.
  • Grill the Tofu:
  • Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly brush it with vegetable oil.
  • Thread the marinated tofu cubes onto skewers. Grill them for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until grill marks appear.
  • Coat with Peanut Sauce:
  • As the tofu grills, warm up the peanut sauce in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir gently to prevent burning.
  • Once the tofu is ready, remove it from the skewers and gently toss it in the peanut sauce until evenly coated.
  • Serve and Garnish:
  • Plate the spicy grilled tofu, drizzling any extra peanut sauce on top.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves to add a burst of color and flavor.

Notes

TIPS
For an extra kick, increase the amount of chili garlic sauce according to your spice preference.
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before threading the tofu to prevent them from burning on the grill.
Experiment with different nut butters like almond or cashew for a unique twist on the peanut sauce.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
